I've been where you are. After 26½ years at Somerset Alliance Church — 17 as Senior Pastor — I know the weight of ministry leadership. The phone calls at 2 a.m. The criticism that hits differently when it's aimed at your calling. The slow drain that no one sees until it's nearly too late.

I also know the valley that doesn't lift on schedule. Grief came to my own family, and I went looking for what was still true when everything I believed was being tested. What I found became the heart of my writing — not theory, but the things that held when I needed them most.

That road drove me to spend a decade understanding why ministry leaders break and what can be done about it. My doctoral research became the foundation for Total Ministry Health — a framework now used by leaders across five continents.

Today, alongside my wife Missy, I serve as a pastoral care couple for field workers in Mongolia — a role we've held since 2018. Together we've raised six adult children and made our home in Somerset, Pennsylvania. Every book, every conversation, every page is driven by one conviction: no one — leader or sufferer — has to walk their hardest season alone.
